A few days ago, I hosted our DIY Marketing webinar… and I forgot how much I love teaching this live.
The chat was active.
The questions were sharp.
The “ohhh, yeah!” moments were happening in real time.
And it reminded me why we created this session in the first place:
Because so many business owners are trying to market their business without ever having been taught the foundations.
So during the webinar, we walked through three big pillars — enough to get them started on this DIY phase of their marketing journey.
1. Branding (the part people think they understand… but usually don’t)
We talked about visual branding and, more importantly, the discipline of sticking to it.
Not in a theoretical way.
In a very practical, “this is why your page looks inconsistent” kind of way.
2. Marketing strategy using AIDA
We introduced the classic AIDA framework from "The Psychology of Selling and Advertising" by Edward K. Strong Jr. — and why this model still explains exactly what a lot of businesses are doing wrong on social media today.
We couldn't go too deep.
But we went deep enough for people to realize they’ve been posting too randomly.
3. Design principles that change everything
We touched on a few small design principles that make graphics go from “meh” to “elevated” — especially when using our DIY Marketing Canva template library.
A Practical Tool: our DIY Marketing Canva Template Library
To make these ideas easier to implement, attendees were introduced to our DIY Marketing Canva Graphic Template Library.
Rather than starting from a blank page each time, this resource provides a structured way to create consistent, professional content more efficiently. It helps streamline the design process, maintain a cohesive brand look, and reduce the time spent figuring out what to create next.
